DUSHANBE, February 11, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On February 11, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) ratified a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on establishment and activity of the Pamir-Chakaltai international research center.

Presenting the agreement, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences, academician Hakim Ahmadov, noted that that document was signed during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s official visit to Tajikistan in August 2008.

“The center will be financed due to state funds provided from the national budget of Tajikistan and Russia,” the academician said, noting that other states might also join the agreement.
