DUSAHNBE, February 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Today morning, President Emomali Rahmon returned to Dushanbe from his a week-long European tour that took him to Latvia, Belgium, the European Union and NATO headquarters in Brussels as well Lithuania and Estonia.

Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, State Adviser to the President for Foreign Policy Erkin Rahmatulloyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management Farrukh Hamraliyev, Deputy Energy and Industries Minister Poulod Muhiddinov and other Tajik state officials as well as heads of a number of large enterprises and banks accompanied Rahmon on this tour.

Estonia was the last leg of Tajik leader’s trip to Europe.  In Tallinn, Emomali Rahmon held talks with his Estonian counterpart, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

According to presidential press service, the sides discussed a range of issues related to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Estonia in the fields of trade, transportation and transit communication, mining, processing of non-ferrous and precious metals, jewelry production, and tourism.

Tajik and Estonian leaders signed a convention on expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.  Rahmon invited his Estonian counterpart to pay a visit to Tajikistan.

We will recall that President Emomali Rahmon began his European tour on February 8.
