KHUJAND, May 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the spouses of the servicemen who died in that war will receive an extraordinary grant of 150 somoni each on occasion of the Victory Day, the deputy governor of Sughd, Shavkat Aliyev said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“People who worked on the home front in World War II and their widows will receive the extraordinary grant of 100 somoni each,” Aliyev said.

1,020 veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 currently live in northern Tajikistan, which is 1,218 people fewer than in 2005.
