DUSHANBE, December 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Two students at the branch of Tajik Technical University in Khujand, the capital of the northern province of Sughd have been detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.

According the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the students were detained on December 1 and package containing 1.78 kilograms of hashish was confiscated from one of them.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under the provisions of Article 200, Part 3 (illicit drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
