DUSHANBE, December 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Some four kilograms of narcotics have been seized in three separate operations in Dushanbe over the last weekends, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

On December 12, Dushanbe resident Jamoliddin Samadov was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.  A package containing 734 grams of heroin was confiscated from him, the source said.

The same day, 160 grams of marijuana were confiscated from Dushanbe resident Bakhtovar Azizov.

On Sunday December 13, resident of Khatlon’s Panj district, Qurbonali Faqirov, was detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.  More than 3 kilograms of raw opium were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
