DUSHANBE, March 25, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The branch of Innovative Road Solutions LTD in Tajikistan is expected to officially present the project, Road Toll Management for the Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak Highway, on March 31 this year.

To-date, two toll stations have been built on this highway the center and the north of Tajikistan, a source at Innovative Road Solutions LTD’s branch in Dushanbe said.  In all, seven toll service stations will be built on this highway.

Vehicles will be charged per kilometer; cars, trucks with load capacity of up to two tons and buses with no more than 19 seats will pay 30 dirams (0.3 somoni) per kilometer, while trucks with load capacity of 2 to 7 tons and buses with 20 to 39 seats will pay 60 dirams per kilometer, and trucks with load capacity of 7 to 14 tons and buses with more than 40 seats will pay 1.50 somoni  per kilometer.  Heavy trucks with load capacity of 14 and more tons will pay 1.88 somoni per kilometer, the source said.

According to him, these toll rates have been set by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

It is to be noted that some types of transport, including fire-fighting vehicles, police vehicles, ambulances, emergency-and-rescue vehicles and military police vehicles, are exempted from paying road tolls.
