DUSHANBE. June 1. “Asia-Plus” — Yesterday, May 31, Tajik Finance Ministry presented the report on Tajikistan’s state debt for 2009.

The report, according to head of the Department of State Debt Analysis and Financial Assets Nigora Solieva, contains information about Tajikistan’s state debt with the layout of creditors and debtors, information about debt’s structure by currencies and information about private non-guaranteed debt and comparative analysis of Tajikistan’s debt with debts of other countries. She stressed that the report also includes information about forecasts on debt service and information about the internal debt.

According to Solieva, sustainable management of Tajikistan’s external debt was achieved thanks to regular efforts on debt restructuring undertaken by the government and which include re-registration, writing off and exchange of debt to assets. “Furthermore, the government has adopted the State Debt Management Strategy for 2009-2011 which specifies fiscal measures on state debt management with the goal to minimize expenditures connected with the service of existing debt and potential external borrowings,” she said.

Representatives of international organizations which cooperate with Tajik Finance Ministry have introduced their proposals for long-term sustainability of the country.

With the purpose to make information on Tajikistan’s state debt transparent and open, annual report of Tajikistan’s state debt is available at Tajik Finance Ministry’s website at
