DUSHANBE, August 11, Asia-Plus – the Canadian company Tethys Petroleum Ltd within 2010 intends to invest $17 million in geological prospecting of gas and oilfields, – the general director of TOO «Tethys Service Tajikistan Limited» Mahmadnazir Sharipov has informed «AP».

As he said, today the company only generalizes the data of financial reporting and the sum which has been disbursed from the total amount planned $17 million, he could not name.

According to a Department of Energy and Industry of RT, Tethys Petroleum Ltd has obtained licenses in 2008 till 2017 for exploration of 56 perspective areas in the south-west of the country. At the same time it talks about five perspective areas, in particular Hoja Sartez, Uzunahor, Pushion and the Southern Pushion, which resources are estimated in 1.5 bln. cubic metre of gas.

At present the company conducts seismic works on the perspective area in “Alim-tae” in the south west of the country, and also conducts drilling works on the perspective area “Komsomol” located in the north of Dushanbe in the locality Luchob.

“Tethys Petroleum” owns 51 % of shares of Kulob Petroleum Limited Company, the absolute owner of Bokhtar KPL; the operator is Tethys Services Tajikistan Company. “Tethys Petroleum” functioning under the first contract on production separation in the history of Tajikistan.
