KULOB, January 31, 2011, Asia-Plus – An extraordinary meeting of the organization of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the city of Kulob was held on January 30.

Election of a new head of the organization was among major topics of the meeting.

Ms. Zulaykho Haqnazarova was elected new head of the PDP organization for Kulob, replacing Khursand Azamov.  Khursand Azamov resigned from his post of chairman of the PDP organization for Kulob voluntarily.

The PDP organization for Kulob has 2,785 members.  The PDP now controls 90 percent of the seats in the Kulob city legislature (36 of 40 seats).  Besides, two self-propelled candidates won two seats in the legislature due to support of the PDP.  The remaining two seats were won by representatives of the Communist Party.
