DUSHANBE, February 24, 2011, Asia-Plus  — One person was killed and at least two others were injured on February 23 as Infiniti FX35 and minivan Hyundai Starex collided in Dushanbe.

The accident took place on the Ismoili Somoni Avenue.  According to the Interior Ministry traffic police directorate, Junaydullo Azizov, 40, broke speed limit and his Infiniti FX35 crashed into Hyundai Starex.

“As a result of heavy collision, both vehicles were thrown into roadside and ran into a pole,” said the source, “One of passenger of the minivan, 20-year-old female student from Tajik National University, was killed and two other passengers (both female students from Tajik State Medical University) sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.”

Another fatal traffic accident took place yesterday in Panjakent district, Sughd province.  Daewoo Damas knocked down 6-year-old boy, who died on the spot.

In all, five traffic accidents were registered in the country yesterday.  Three persons were killed and five others were injured in those traffic accidents.

Since the beginning of this year, 179 traffic accidents have been reported in Tajikistan: 61 persons have been killed and 216 others have been injured.
