KULOB, July 11, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The Kulob shoe factory is expected to be reorganized into modern clothing factory.

Kulob Mayor Homid Abdulloyev says it is a compulsory measure because the shoe factory has not been able to operate in full capacity since the last years of existence of the Soviet Union.  “Italian equipment installed at the shoe factory twenty-five years ago has become obsolete, while an attempt to replace it with Chinese equipment has miscarried,” the mayor said.

According to him, Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali who visited Kulob last weekends supported an idea to reorganize the enterprise into clothing factory and ordered the Yoqut firm to provide the enterprise with first 250 sewing machines and help install the technological line.   The line will be introduced into operation by the end of this month and it will create at least 400 new jobs for Kulob residents.

At first the factory will fulfill orders by military and law enforcement authorities for uniform.  “Conclusion of agreements with them is nearing completion,” Abdulloyev said, noting that the factory will also have a shoe-making technological line.
