DUSHANBE, July 13, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The Uzbek authorities have raised rates of entry and transit fees for foreign road freight transport and busses crossing Uzbek-Tajik border by 15 percent.

Starting from July 1, the rate of entry and transit fees paid by foreign road freight transport and buses crossing Uzbek-Tajik border increased from US$230.00 to US$265.00.

The rate of entry and transit fees for Tajik road freight transport and buses, previously US$103.00, is now US$118.00 (14 percent rise).

The transit fees for Turkmen vehicles bound for Tajikistan remain the same: US$35.00 for the road freight transport with carrying capacity of up to 10 tons and 12-seat buses; and US$55.00 for the road freight transport with carrying capacity of 10 and more tons and buses with more than 12 seats.

It is already the fourth rise in transit fees for vehicles traveling to Tajikistan via Uzbek territory over the past six months.
