DUSHANBE, November 16, 2011, Asia-Plus  — One person was killed and two others were injured on November 15 as a rockfall occurred in the Vanj district, Gorno Badakhshan.

According to the Interior Ministry, the tragedy took place in the Khekhik-Khumroghi area.

“As a result of the rockfall, 35-year-old local resident failed to control his GAZ-53 (a 3.5 ton truck) and it fell into the Panj River,” said the source.  “One of passengers was drowned in the river, while two others, both minors, sustained various injuries and were taken to a hospital.”
