DUSHANBE, March 6, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A highway from Dushanbe to the Tavildara district in eastern Tajikistan has been temporarily closed for traffic due to avalanches, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

The source at a MoT has said that an avalanche that occurred today morning blocked the highway in the Sari Jar area, the Tavildara district.

Meanwhile, the Dushanbe-Kulob-Darvoz-Khorog highway was reopened for traffic today morning.  The highway was closed for traffic yesterday due an avalanche that blocked the highway in the Darvoz district.

The Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak highway connecting the Tajik capital to northern Tajikistan has also been cleared of snow.  However, the highway is still closed for traffic because of traffic congestion on the Shahriston Pass, the source said, adding that the highway will be reopened for traffic within the next few hours.
