DUSHANBE, April 10, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A trial of two in traffic police officer’s death is reportedly nearing completion.

The next sitting of the court took place on April 9 and a prosecutor in the trial of Ozodbek Odinayev and Saidmukhtor Mirjonov asked the court in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district to sentence Odinayev to a 10-year prison term and Mirojonov to a 9-year prison term.

We will recall that the court in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district began to consider criminal proceedings instituted against two persons charged with beating traffic police officer Ravshan Sharipov to death in January.

Ozodbek Odinayev and Saidmukhtor Mirjonov are charged with hooliganism, attempted bribery, using violence against a representative of authorities and negligent killing.

Traffic police officer, Ravshan Sharipov, 25, died at the National Medical Center in Dushanbe on May 5, 2011 several days after he was beaten by two young men while being on duty.

Ravshan Sharipov was hospitalized on April 28, 2011 after being beaten by two young men.  The incident took place at the crossroads of the Nemat Qaraboyev and Shestopalov streets in Dushanbe.  Traffic police officers Tolibjon Qodirov and Ravshan Sharipov reportedly stopped Mercedes (number plate 9889 RT 01) that drove through red light.  The driver Saidmukhtor Mirjonov, 30, and his passenger Ozodbek Odinayev, 26, severely beat Sharipov, who sustained serious wounds and was taken to the hospital.
