KULOB, June 22, 2012, Asia-Plus  — To bring down prices and attract more buyers, the administration of Kulob’s Sakhi bazaar, which belongs to the Dushanbe-based private company Umed-88, has decided to exempt merchants running shops at the bazaar from paying daily duties during six months, Deputy Kulob Mayor Rustam Nematov told Asia-plus Friday afternoon.

“Besides, the Kulob mayor’s office will send a certain part of agricultural goods produced by farming units operating in the Kulob district to the Sakhi bazaar,” Nematov said.

According to him, the bazaar administration has failed to attract merchants to the bazaar and organize the proper activity of the bazaar.  “Though Sakhi is the private bazaar, the mayor’s office has been forced to interfere into the situation,” Nematov said, noting that there are 422 market stalls in the enclosed space of the Sakhi bazaar and several dozens of shops along the perimeter of the bazaar compound.
