DUSHANBE, June 28, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Consultative Council for Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) has been established at the Dushanbe mayor’s office and Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has been elected to head the Council.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says the Council members include deputy mayors, assistant to the mayor, heads of all Dushanbe’s districts, heads of the Dushanbe education, finance and tax departments as well as senior representatives from some of mobile phone companies and Internet-providers operating in Dushanbe.

The main objectives of the council are in establishing control over implementation of the national ITC strategy, determining the main directions of the national ITC policy as well as coordinating actions of the municipal organs, commercial and non-governmental organizations regarding introduction of the information and communications technologies, Saidov said.
