Dushanbe. 20 August. “Asia-Plus” – In the first seven months of this year over 547 thousand Tajik citizens have left the country for more decent jobs.

According to the Migration Service of Tajikistan over 655 thousand Tajik citizens, over 547 thousand of whom are migrant workers, and almost 60 thousand of them are women.

Majority of the Tajik migrant workers chose Russia as the country to travel – over 500 thousand, followed by Kazakhstan – around 12 thousand.

Over 280 thousand Tajik citizens, consisting of over 238 thousand men and 41 thousand women have returned from labor migration.

According to the Information of the Migration Service of Tajikistan, approximately 745 thousand Tajik citizens have left for work, which is 6 thousand less than 2011. Over 87 thousand of last year”s labor migrants are women.

Meanwhile, according to the Russian Federal Migration Service, number of Tajik migrant workers in Russia is approximately 1.1 million people.
