DUSHANBE, October 23, 2013, Asia-Plus /Payrav Chorshanbiyev/ — Tajik Railways head Amonullo Hukumov is indignant at media reports noting that his son Rasoul Amonullo is responsible for an October 9 fatal traffic accident in Dushanbe.

In a statement released today, Amonullo Hukumov notes, “If my son is guilty let him answer in law.  Media has spread false information without waiting for the results of investigation.”

He confirmed that his son left for Germany after the accident, “but he bought an air ticket a week before the fatal accident.”

“This accident is a mystery to me.  Rasoul could not be behind the wheel during the traffic accident.  “Let law enforcement agency investigate this incident in accordance with the country’s legislation,” Amonullo Hukumov said.

We will recall that the Tajik law enforcement authorities are said to be questioning the son of the chief of the Tajik state railway company over his alleged involvement in a deadly traffic accident.

The Interior Ministry said on October 22 that Rasoul Amonullo has returned from Germany this week and he is currently in a Dushanbe clinic, where he is being treated for injuries to his hand.

He reportedly received the injuries in an October 9 accident in Dushanbe that killed three people and severely injured three others.

Rasoul Amonullo was reportedly driving his BMW above the speed limit in the wee hours of the morning of October 9 when he struck VAZ 21-04, driven by Allouddin Saidov, 22, cook from Rohat Teahouse.

As a result of the collision, Allouddin Saidov died on the spot and two his passengers – Surayo Ismoilova, 24, and Uktam Mansourov, 25 – died in hospital from injuries sustained the accident, while three other passengers – Shokir Mataliyev, 26, Madina Akramova, 21, and Aziza Rouziyeva, 24 – are in hospital with serious injuries (all of them are employees of Rohat Teahouse).

Criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 212 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – traffic infringement and violation of rules of exploitation of means of transport entailing the death of two and more persons.  If convicted Rasoul Amonullo could face 5 to 10 years in prison.

Meanwhile, new details of that incident emerged.  The Interior Ministry’s website reported on October 22 that they are going to question one more person allegedly involved in that fatal accident, Umar Sharipov.
