DUSHANBE, November 12, 2013, Asia-Plus — Dushanbe International Airport (DIA) and UTair-Leasing, which is a subsidiary of UTair Aviation, have signed an international lease contract for delivery of 50 units of airfield technical equipment for operation at Dushanbe International Airport.
According to information posted on UTair-Leasing’s website, the deal is valued at more than 5.9 million Euros.
The contract reportedly includes the acquisition and delivery of advanced self-propelled passenger stairs, pushback tugs, belt loaders and ramp busses. The delivery is planned to be completed in March 2014.
The acquisition of new technical equipment for aircraft MRO, ramp and runway maintenance will allow Dushanbe Airport to increase the quality of passenger service and will support uninterrupted airport operations in all weather conditions, UTair-Leasing’s website reports.
According to information received from DIA, the contract was signed in early autumn this year.
Dushanbe International Airport is an airport located in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Dushanbe airport is main hub for Tajik Air and Somon Air.
Work has begun on upgrading facilities at the airport. To bring the Dushanbe airport up to international air traffic standards, an extension project has been launched to raise the overall space of the international terminal to 11,000 m² with a capacity of 5,000 passengers per hour. This project is being implemented under financial support of France which provided Tajikistan a long-term low interest loan.
UTair-Leasing is reportedly a major player in the Russian leasing market. UTair-Leasing ranks among top three leasing companies in the Urals region. In H1 2013 UTair-Leasing held a leasing contract portfolio amounting to more than 4.5 bln Russian rubles (RR).
OJSC UTair Aviation (commonly known as UTair) is an airline based in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. It operates scheduled domestic and some international passenger services, scheduled helicopter services (e.g. from Surgut) plus extensive charter flights with fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters in support of the oil and gas industry across Western Siberia. UTair is also involved with relief operations for the United Nations. Its main base is at Roshchino International Airport (TJM). UTair has operated flights from Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk and Tyumen to Tajikistan for already six years.
