DUSHANBE, April 22, 2014, Asia-Plus – Primary aluminum and cotton fiber remain major export items for Tajikistan.

According to the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, primary aluminum’s share in country’s total exports has accounted for more than 67 percent in the first three months of this year.

Over the report period, Tajikistan has exported more than 116 million U.S. dollars worth of primary aluminum, which was 51.2 percent of country’s exports.

Over the same three-month period, cotton fiber’ share in Tajikistan’s total exports has accounted for 16 percent.

In January-March this year, Tajikistan has exported 36.4 million U.S. dollars worth of cotton fiber.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan has reportedly imported 161.6 million U.S. dollars worth of oil products over the first quarter of this year.

Oil products have accounted for 17.4 percent of Tajikistan’s imports over the report period.  Oil products are reportedly followed by cars — 7.33 percent, alumina – 5.6 percent, wheat – 5.5 percent, liquefied gas – 4.5 percent, and wheat flour – 2.3 percent.
