DUSHANBE, March 18, 2015, Asia-Plus — The EU project, Tajik Women Economic Empowerment (TWEET), carried out a midterm review of the project implementation in the premises of the Business Incubator (BI) of the National Association of Business of Tajikistan (NABWT).

The project team reportedly summarized the activities and achievements of the project in its first year of implementation and discussed them with representatives from the   EU Delegation and GIZ.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, current project was successfully developed in the first year and moving in the direction to attain planned results of the project.

Within the framework of the program of NABWT’s potential improvement, four (4) trainings were carried out in specific subjects, afterwards NABWT initiated a process to change its membership policy, and successfully established organization’s work in the direction of the advocacy. With the assistance of external consultants, several researches on gender related topics were done.

NABWT in this period has created a platform and established a network for the presentation of its own proposals to government institutions, society and media for the improvement of business climate for the development of women’s entrepreneurship.

The main events of the project in the first year of its implementation were organization of Business symposium of women of Central Asia and Afghanistan, as well as organization of republican contest “Women entrepreneur of the year Award “Farah-2014”.  In these events representatives of the Association of Business Women of Central Asia and Afghanistan participated, and shared their own experience on how to develop women’s entrepreneurship in the region.

The project, Tajik Women Economic Empowerment (TWEET), is funded by the European Union under the Central Asia Invest Program.  The project aims at improving the business climate for the establishment and operation of MSME run by women in Tajikistan.
