KHUJAND, April 2, 2015, Asia-Plus — A new radio station, Shahri Man (My City), has gone on the air in Khujand, the capital of the northern province of Sughd.

The radio station administrator, Ms. Natalia Yaqubova, says Shahri Man broadcasts in Tajik and Russia languages.

“The radio stations will run news bulletins, play music and air various cultural and sports programs,” Ms. Yaqubova said, noting that Shahri Man will be on the air twenty-four hours a day.

According to her, students have been got involved in the work with the radio station.  “They will host various sports and cultural programs,” Yaqubova said.

12 TV channels (including one state-run) and 10 radio stations (including one state-run) now broadcast in Sughd province.  Besides, 54 periodicals, including 48 newspapers (21 of them are the state publications) and six magazines (one of them is the state publication), are published in the area.
