DUSHANBE, July 28, 2015, Asia-Plus — There were more mudslides and floods in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) on July 28.

“Abnormally hot weather caused the Khingob River levels to rise in the Saghirdasht jamoat of GBAO’s Darvoz district today,” Orif Nizomov, a spokesman for the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES), told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon.

According to him, flooding destroyed 90 meters of highway connecting Gorno Badakhshan and Dushanbe via the Khoburabot Pass.

“Besides, mudslides have completely destroyed 15 meters of roads in the Ishkashim district and a bridge in the Alichur jamoat of the Murgab district,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, land plots have been allocated to 83 families in the Shugnan district, whose houses were destroyed completely by recent mudslides and floods.  Construction of 70 houses has already begun.
