DUSHANBE, November 12, 2015, Asia-Plus – A member of a joint investigation group says that a Tajik woman was allegedly killed because of jealousy.

According to him, they are investigating several versions of the murder of the 22-year-old Tajik woman Shoira Jabborova and one of the main versions is a jealous murder.

“According to witnesses, it was not the first time that Shoira Jabborova came to the unit of the Russian military base in Dushanbe and she said that she is his [Ivan Shcherbakov] wife,” he said.

According to the investigator, they allegedly had a quarrel – the woman was accused of infidelity.  Their quarrel came to a fight and the woman sustained injuries incompatible with life.

After the arrest, the officer regretting the incident confessed to the crime, the investigator said.

Meanwhile, the Tajik law enforcement authorities had previously noted that during the preliminary investigation Shcherbakov said that he had no memory of the events of which he stands accused as he was heavily intoxicated at the time.

We will recall that Senior Lieutenant Ivan Shcherbakov, 26, was detained on November 9 on suspicion of killing Shoira Jabborova and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him.

Biological examination is reportedly being carried out to find out whether Shcherbakov was raping Shoira Jabborova alone or other officers were also involved in that crime.

The body of Shoira Jabborova was handed over to her relatives on November 11.

The morgue employees have told

RFE/RL’s Tajik Service

that her jaw was broken and there were traces of beating on her head.

Shoira Jabborova was reportedly invited by Shcherbakov to an officer”s dormitory on the base where she was found dead on November 5.
