DUSHANBE, December 24, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will address a joint meeting of both chambers of the parliament on January 22, 2016, a reliable source in the government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Usually, in an address to the parliament, the president discusses the country’s priorities in domestic politics and foreign policy as well as the main economic challenges.

In his previous address to the parliament (January 23, 2015), President Rahmon paid a special attention to problems of development of Tajikistan’s economy under conditions of global economic and financial crisis, as well as the fight against international terrorism and extremism.

“In the upcoming address, the president will pay a special attention to domestic politics and foreign policy and outline priorities of development of the national economy and social sphere for 2016,” the source said.

We will recall that since the last year President Rahmon has addressed the parliament in January but not in April as he had done before.

The address was reportedly brought forward in connection with the fact that since the last year a financial year has started on January 1 and not April 1 as it was before.

President Rahmon will also hold a meeting on January 22  to review the results of the past year”s work, the source added.  Heads of ministries and agencies as well as chairpersons of provinces, cities and districts will report on the results of work carried out in 2015.
