DUSHANBE, January 21, 2016, Asia-Plus – President Rahmon has sharply criticized officials for failure to fulfill tax collection and cotton production targets.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, president’s criticism came during an address to a government meeting in Dushanbe on January 21.

Finance Minister Abdusalom Qurboniyon and Tax Committee Chairman Nusratullo Davlatzoda noted in their reports that Tajikistan last year reached only 82 percent of the social insurance tax.

Last year’s tax arrears reportedly amounted to 255 million somoni.  

Speaking at the meeting, the president sharply criticized officials for failure to fulfill the cotton production target last year and order that the cotton sector situation should be improved. 

Emomali Rahmon also sharply criticized the low rate of collection of funds for electricity consumption and ordered to tighten control over electricity consumption.
