DUSHANBE, August 11, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Russian Supreme Court has handed down ruling to shut down a Moscow-based Tajik migrant support group following request by the Russian Ministry of Justice.

The Tajik migrant support group entitled “Tajik Labor Migrants” has reportedly been shut down for irregularities revealed in its charter and its congresses’ minutes.

news agency reports “Tajik Labor Migrants” has failed to confirm its all-Russian status.  Besides, the group was reportedly providing wrong data about its regional organizations to the Ministry of Justice.

“Tajik Labor Migrants” had its regional organizations only in 38 federal subjects of Russia, while under the Russian legislation parties and movements must have their regional organizations in no less than half of federal subjects that is no less than 43, according to

The Ministry of Justice of Russian suggested that “Tajik Labor Migrants” should be reregistered as inter-region movement.

Meanwhile, Tajik Labor Migrants head Karomat Sharipov considers that the legal proceedings over the closure of the Tajik migrant support group have been initiated by order of certain forces. 

The Tajik Migrant Workers public association was established in Moscow on November 10, 2007.

The Moscow-based Tajik migrant support group has reportedly assisted Tajik labor migrants with everything from finding a job to battling fabricated criminal cases.
