Based on current data, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the first nine months of this year was about 38 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 4.8 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 6.7 percent over the same period last year in comparable prices, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In January-September this year, GDP structure by sources of income included: agriculture, fishery, hunt and forestry – 20.3 percent; sale and repair of automobiles and home appliances and consumer goods, hotels and restaurants – 14.4 percent; industry and energy – 14.9 percent; transportation, communications and warehousing – 12.3 percent; taxes – 11.7 percent; construction – 10.8 percent; etc.

The government expects the GDP to rise 7.0 percent in a year to December 31, 2016.

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its 2016 gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for Tajikistan to 6.0 percent from the 3.4 percent forecast in April this year.

The Asian Development Bank (ABD) has projected the 2016 GDP growth forecast for Tajikistan at 4.2 percent.

Experts from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have projected the 2016 GDP growth forecast for Tajikistan at 4.5 percent.

The World Bank has projected the 2016 GDP growth forecast for Tajikistan at 4.8 percent.
