A woman from the Panj district in Khatlon province has poisoned several people while attempting to kill her husband.

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the incident took place three years ago but police could find a trace of the woman just recently.  

A 37-year-old woman from the village of Turdishoh in the Panj district has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

On June 29, 2014, the woman cooked meal for her husband and his relatives who were working in the field.  Following a personal animosity between her and her husband, the woman reportedly added pesticide in the meal.  After taking the meal, her husband’s brother, his wife, their three children and her husband’s nephew felt bad and were taken to the central district hospital in Panj Township.  The husband’s brother died in hospital after a time.  

However, the woman did not give up the criminal intent and added pesticide in bread dough for baking flat loaves on September 7, 2014.  After taking those loaves, wife of the dead brother of her husband, her husband’s sister with her children were taken to hospital with acute poisoning.  Shortly after, a 4-year-old girl died in hospital.

On the same day, the woman baked 20 poisoned flat loaves for funeral repast of her husband’s uncle and seven people were taken to the central hospital in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province, with acute poisoning, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
