Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali has signed a decree on providing financial assistance to local veterans and the employees of housing and communal services on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, which is celebrated on September 9.

Fifty-one veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 living in Dushanbe and the spouses of the servicemen who died in that war will receive 900 somoni each, a source in the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.

Ninety employees of Dushanbe’s Victory Park will receive 600 somoni each.  

Veterans of Soviet-Afghan War of 1979-1989 and Chernobyl liquidators living in Dushanbe will receive 500 somoni each.

The employees of housing and communal services, street cleaners and the employees of Dushanbe’s cemeteries will receive 1,000 somoni each, the source added.
