An Afghan drug trafficker has been detained with a large amount of narcotic drugs at the Tajik border in the Darvoz district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press center.

An operation carried out by drug control officers in the Chashmai Zang area near the village of Sangev has led to the arrest of Afghan national Aziz waladi Delawar who illegally crossed the border river. 

Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the Tajik counternarcotics agency, says a sack of narcotic drugs weighing 10.575 kilograms has been confiscated from the trespasser.

A totaled reportedly included 7.702 kilograms of raw opium, 2.442 kilograms of cannabis, 410 grams of hashish and 0.21 gram of heroin.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.
