The practice of cutting off electricity to some areas of Dushanbe is going on.  Today, twelve streets and two neighborhoods in the Tajik capital have been left without electricity for seven hours.

“Today, electricity supply is cut off to Behzod, Mirzo Tursunzoda, Sadriddin Ayni, Shaumyan, Ahmad Donish, Moyonsho Nazarshoyev, Borbad, Payrav Sulaymoni, Nakhimov, Abdurahmon Jomi, Furuzon and Rahmon Nabiyev streets from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in connection with routine maintenance work,” said an official source at the Dushanbe electricity supply network.

“Besides, electricity has been cut off to Luchobi Poyon and Khovaron neighborhoods,” the source added.

It is to be noted that various streets and neighborhoods in the Tajik capital have been left without electricity practically every day since the beginning of the year.

Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s state-run power utility company) has explained these power outages by maintenance work on Dushanbe’s power substations.
