Tehran has confirmed participation of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a summit of the of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) that will take place in the Tajik capital from June 14-15.
Meanwhile, the Tajik MFA information department says that under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on principles and frameworks of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the field of security that was signed by the foreign ministers of the two countries .in Tehran on June 1, the parties further undertake to conduct fruitful cooperation in providing security, preventing power seizure related crimes, combating terrorism, countering illegal migration and human trafficking, combating cybercrime, preventing trafficking in weapons, preventing money laundering and terrorist financing and not to interfere in each other's internal affairs.
The memorandum also notes that “the two sides must prevent activities of parties and organizations designated as terrorist and extremist and refrain from supporting them.”
In this context, the Iranian side emphasized that it will not allow the activities of members and supporters of terrorist and extremist groups, including the Islamic Renaissance Party which is banned in Tajikistan, in its territory, the MFA information department notes.
At the same time, the parties reportedly committed to expand cooperation in exchanging information, providing technical assistance and using experience of each other as well as to take measures to carry out joint events on preventing illegal training of citizens in their territories.
