A screaming incident occurred in Dushanbe’s Sino district in broad white on June 19.  The Interior Ministry says three teens set a 6-year-old girl on fire.

The six-year-old Osiya Zulfonova is currently in the intensive care unit of Dushanbe Burn Center.  Physician Tohir Zubaidov told Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service that the girl has burns on 45 percent of her body surface area.  “She is in critical condition and doctors are doing their best to save her,” Zubaidov said.

The Interior Ministry says three teen were detained on suspicion of committing this shocking crime.

According to the Interior Ministry, the six-year-old girl was taken to the Dushanbe Burn Center with serious burn wounds on June 19 at about 11:30.

As a result of a search operation, three teens from the Choryakkoron jamoat of the Roudaki district were reportedly detained on suspicion of committing this crime.

Dushanbe-based weekly Farazh reported on June 21 that three teenagers tied a six-year-old girl who was playing with her friends near her house to a grid fence and set her on fire.

President Emomali Rahmon expressed concern about this incident and ordered the Minister of Health and Social Protection Nasim Olimzoda to take treatment of Osiya Zulfonova under his own control.
