The Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir has got a new status – Government’s Representative in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

According to information posted on Khorog Administration’s page on Facebook,  the Minister of Industry and New Technologies has been appointed Government’ Representative in Khorog to promote economic and social development of the city and enhancement of its industrial sector within the next five years under the continued support of the President of the country.

At the same time, it is noted that “together with acting governor of the GBAO Alisher Mirzonabot they, tightening their belts, will turn Khorog into the pearl of Gorno Badakhshan and Gorno Badakhshan into the golden gate of Tajikistan.”

Meanwhile, Abdufattorh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for the President of Tajikistan, says, “Sherali Kabir will supervise the preparation of Khorog for the worthy celebration of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.”

“He will control the work on improving the city, hold meetings with the population, carry out public policy campaigning and so forth.  Such a practice was used when preparations were made for the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence; each member of the government controlled a separate city or district.  This practice has yielded good results, and therefore, it has been decided to continue this practice,” Sharifzoda added.
