Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on May 30 met in Tehran with Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber, according to the Tajik president’s official website. 

The parties reportedly expressed interest in the implementation of a long-term of trade and economic cooperation designed for the period up to 2030, which signed in Tehran yesterday and intensification of activities of the joint commission for trade and economic cooperation.

Rahmon and Mokhber also discussed the launch of joint ventures in light and food industries, pharmaceutics, metallurgy, building materials production, and mining.   

Meanwhile, IRNA reports that speaking during a meeting with visiting Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon, Mokhber said that Iran is ready to take more strong steps to export technical and engineering services to Tajikistan and help scientific and academic exchanges between the two countries.

For his part, The Tajik president reportedly said that a new chapter of cooperation between the two countries has begun.

The two officials underlined the need for establishment of peace and security in the region, in Afghanistan in particular, and the urgency to protect peace in the Middle East and Central Asia, IRNA added.

Mohammad Mokhber Dezfuli (born 1955) is an Iranian politician who is the 7th and current first vice president of Iran in August 2021.  He was former head of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), the chairman of board at Sina Bank and deputy governor of Khuzestan Province.  He was born in Dezful, Iran.
