A team of military of Tajikistan arrived in Kaliningrad oblast yesterday for participation in the Seaborne Assault contest of Army Games that will take place at the Baltic Fleet’s training ground Khmelevka from August 13-27.

According to the press center of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation, teams of South Ossetia and Venezuela also arrived in Kaliningrad oblast on August 7.   Previously, teams of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Guinea also arrived there.

After receiving weapons and military equipment, foreign personnel will study sections of the competition route, get acquainted with in detail the target positions in preparation for participation in the international contest.

TASS reported last month that China also confirmed its participation in the international competition of marine infantry as part of the Army Games 2022.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service said a total of 36 international competitions are to be held as part of the tournament.

The Western Military District is one of the five military districts of the Russian Armed Forces, with its jurisdiction primarily within the western central region of European Russia.  The Western Military District was created as part of the 2008 military reforms, and founded by Presidential Decree №1144 signed on September 20, 2010, as an amalgamation of the Moscow Military District, Leningrad Military District and Kaliningrad Special Region.  The district began operation on October 20, 2010.
