Three babies were repatriated from the Russian Federation to Tajikistan on June 18.  These babies have reportedly been left by their mothers – nationals of Tajikistan in maternity hospitals in Russia.

“These three baby girls were repatriated to Tajikistan because they were in Russia without care.  They were left at birth in maternity hospitals, and therefore, they were repatriated to Tajikistan,” an official source within the Tajik Embassy in Moscow told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“In cases when Tajik women leave their newborn babies in another country, the relevant authorities inform the Tajik diplomatic mission, and then measures are taken to return them to Tajikistan, in particular, all necessary documents are collected,” the source noted.

According to him, the process of returning children to Tajikistan is within the competence of the Embassy, but further placement of children in the territory of Tajikistan does not fall in the Embassy’s competence.

“This is done by the relevant authorities, in particular the Interior Ministry,” the source added

According to data from the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, nine minors, including these three baby girls, have been repatriated from Russia to Tajikistan this year so far.
