Tajikistan, Iran sign 23 cooperation documents

Top officials from the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have signed a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to expand bilateral cooperation.

Under the documents, which were inked in Dushanbe on January 16, the two countries will expand cooperation in political, economic, cultural, educational, transport, customs, and trade fields. 

The two presidents earlier held their private talks after Pezeshkian was officially welcomed by Rahmon at his official residence in Dushanbe, the Palace of the Nation, earlier in the day.

IRNA says their talks covered a range of topics, including issues of mutual interest as well as regional and international developments.

The Tajik president’s official website says that as a result of high-level negotiations between Tajikistan and Iran, with the participation and presence of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, 23 new cooperation documents were signed.

Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian signed a Joint Declaration on mutual cooperation and oversaw the signing ceremony. 

Other signed documents include:

 

  • Cooperation program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • Implementation program of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the development of cargo transit via Chabahar Port;
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in the field of national and modern arts;
  • Action plan for the implementation of the MoU between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in the field of industry and new technologies for the period of 2025-2027;
  • MoU between the National University of Tajikistan and the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • MoU between the Shirinsho Shohtemur Agricultural University of Tajikistan and the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • Joint action program for the MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Health Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the areas of social issues and support for vulnerable groups;
  • MoU between the Tajik State Medical University named after Abu Ali ibn Sino and the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Islamic Republic of Iran;
  • MoU between the Republican Blood Science Center of Tajikistan and the Blood Transfusion Organization of Iran;

·         MoU on livestock and veterinary improvement between the Food Security Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU between the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in the areas of women and family;

·         MoU between the Agency for Financial Control and Fight Against Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan and the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in the field of anti-corruption;

·         MoU between the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on cooperation between the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Statistical Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on cooperation between the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, and Trade Inspection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Standard Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of standardization and metrology;

·         MoU on cooperation in information and communication technologies between the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on educational cooperation between the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU between the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU between the State Archive Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Documents and Library Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on cooperation between the Strategic Research Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on cooperation between the State Institution of the Center for Islamic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Research Institute of the World Assembly for the Approximation of Islamic Sects in the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·         MoU on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Exhibitions Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the exhibition sector.

Pezeshkian, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tajikistan on January 15.  He will wrap up his trip on Friday morning when he will depart for Russia.
