On February 11-12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, visited Kazakhstan on an official visit.

The Tajik MFA information department reports that during the visit, detailed negotiations were held in both narrow and expanded formats with the Deputy Prime Minister also Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi on February 12.

The two reportedly discussed in detail the current state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Kazakh relations in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, in light of the agreements reached at the highest level in August 2024.

They exchanged views on the interaction between the two countries within the frameworks of the UN, CIS, SCO, CSTO, SICA, OSCE, and other international and regional organizations.

Following the negotiations, S. Muhriddin and M. Tleuberdi made statements to the media.

The talks took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, characteristic of the relations of strategic partnership and alliance between the two fraternal countries, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that special attention was given to the further expansion of trade and economic cooperation.  Kazakhstan has consistently ranked among Tajikistan's top three trading partners for many years.  Thanks to the measures taken, the volume of mutual trade increased by 7.4% last year, totaling US$1.2 billion USD.  The sides reportedly agreed to take coordinated measures to reach the goal set by the heads of state to increase trade turnover to US$2 billion USD.

The need to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of agriculture, which accounts for more than 40% of the total trade volume between the two countries, was also highlighted.

In turn, the Tajik Foreign Minister reportedly emphasized that the high level of relations between the two countries had been achieved due to the trusting and friendly dialogue between the heads of state.

"We greatly value our relations with Kazakhstan and place great importance on the trade and economic track, which must be filled with practical content," said S. Muhriddin.

The prospects for cooperation in the fields of space exploration, IT technologies, artificial intelligence, and digitalization were also discussed.  In particular, experts from the two countries have successfully deployed key components of the "Unified Platform of Internet Resources" (EPIR) and "SmartBridge" systems on servers in Tajikistan.  Over 100 Tajik specialists are currently undergoing free training at Astana-Hub for the implementation of these initiatives.

During the meeting, the ministers also aligned their positions on current regional and global agenda items and confirmed their commitment to continue working closely within multilateral structures, offering mutual support in advancing the international initiatives of both countries.
