On September 3, the international swimming tournament dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence started at the Dushanbe Tennis Palace and Aquatics Complex.

According to the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, more than 60 swimmers from six countries – Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan – are taking part in the tournament. The competition will last until September 5th.

At the opening ceremony, Ramazon Rahimzoda, Minister of Internal Affairs and Chairman of the National Swimming Federation, congratulated the participants of the competition and wished them success.

Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Sports Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Zulfikor Gulakhmadzoda also delivered a welcoming speech. According to him, thanks to the instructions of the President Emomali Rahmon, the state and the government consistently support the development of sports, strengthen the material and technical base and create conditions for the training of young athletes.

It is noted that holding international swimming tournaments in honor of Independence Day has already become a good tradition. Such events contribute not only to improving the skill level of athletes, but also to strengthening international sports cooperation.

On the first day of the competition, the Belarusian team showed impressive results, winning 11 medals: four gold, four silver and three bronze. At the end of the day, the Belarusian national team shares the first place with Russian athletes.
