Tajikistan regards the missile strikes on the city of Doha, carried out on September 9, as an act of aggression against the territorial integrity of the State of Qatar and strongly condemns them, according to a statement published on September 10 on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

"These actions are a clear violation of the norms of international law and the fundamental provisions of the UN Charter, which increases the tension of the already difficult situation in the Middle East region", – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasizes.

It is noted that the Republic of Tajikistan has consistently advocated the use of diplomatic channels and negotiations as effective tools for the peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts.

On Tuesday, Israel carried out several attacks on the Hamas headquarters in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the so-called negotiating group, consisting of the top leadership of Hamas, acting head of the entire movement Khaled Mashaal, deputy head of the politburo Khalil al-Haya, head of the financial bureau Zaher Jabarin, head of the Council of the Majlis al-Shura Muhammad Ismail Darvish and a high-ranking member of the Politburo Nizar Awadallah.

The group gathered to discuss the plan proposed by the Americans to end the war in Gaza.

Contrary to its usual practice, when statements after Israeli strikes can only appear weeks later, this time Hamas hastened to announce that all five members of its governing council are alive.

However, the group did not provide any confirmation of this, writes the BBC.

At the same time, the group's report says that as a result of the Israeli strike, five low-level members were killed, including the son of deputy head of the Politburo Khalil al-Haya. The other dead include three of al-Haya's bodyguards and the head of his office.

The Israeli Army (IDF) reports that the strike was carried out against Hamas members who led operations during the group's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Israel has not yet officially specified how successful its strike against the Hamas leadership in Doha was. However, on Wednesday, the Israeli press, citing anonymous statements from senior officials and the military, reported that, apparently, all five leaders of the group remained alive.

The Qatari authorities confirmed that a strike was carried out in Doha on a building where several members of the Hamas political bureau live, and also condemned Israel's actions, calling them a gross violation of international laws and norms.

In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump called the decision to strike Hamas leaders in Doha "unwise", The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the phone conversation between the two leaders on the day of the attack was "tense". Netanyahu told Trump that Israel had only a short window to strike, and he decided to take this chance.

Later that day, a second conversation took place, which had a friendlier atmosphere. Then Trump asked the Israeli prime minister if the attack was successful, writes Deutsche Welle.

Qatar and Israel have accused each other of links to terrorism

Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani said in an interview with CNN that the Israeli strike on Hamas representatives in Doha "destroyed all hope" for the release of Israeli hostages held by the group.

"The actions that Netanyahu has taken are barbaric actions," – the prime minister said, again calling the strike on Doha "state terror".

Now, the Prime Minister continued, Qatar is "reviewing everything" related to its participation in any future ceasefire negotiations. Doha will have a "very detailed conversation" with the U.S. government on how to proceed, Al Thani said.

He added that the countries of the Middle East will consider retaliatory actions against Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on the operation to eliminate Hamas leaders in Qatar, accused Doha of supporting terrorists.

In an address recorded on the eve of the anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the United States, he recalled that Israel's "own September 11" was the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

"We struck at the terrorists who organized the massacre on October 7. And they did it in Qatar, a country that gives them asylum, finances them, and provides Hamas leaders with luxury villas and everything they need," – Netanyahu said.

He added that, like the United States after the September 11 attacks, Israel intends to pursue terrorists anywhere in the world.
