DUSHANBE, March 4, 2013, Asia-Plus — The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) considered the law on education in new edition at a March 4 meeting, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov.
“Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Education, Nouriddin Saidov, noted that the new education law is aimed at, first of all, reforming the education sector, raising knowledge of students and bringing the country’s education sector in compliance with international standards,” Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The new education law has been drafted by a special working group comprising specialists in education and lawyers.
The board also considered amendments proposed to the country’s laws on terrorism and countering the legalization (laundering) of criminally gained incomes and the financing of terrorism.
The board also approved the Majlisi Namoyandagon decision to appoint deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, Mahmadsharif Haqdodov, head of the parliamentary temporary commission for the environmental protection issues.
All these issues will be considered at the next sitting of the fourth session of Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation that will take place on March 6, Sultonov said.
