KULOB, July 11, 2013, Asia-Plus — Enterprises of the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources (LRWR) remain the most incorrigible nonpayers in the Kulob region.
As of July 1, the LRWR enterprises electricity debts amounted to more than 16 million somoni, Mirzo Ismoilov, the director of the Kulob power grid, announced at a news conference in Kulob on July 10.
“Over the first six months of this year, the LRWR pumping irrigation stations in the area have received electricity for 878,000 somoni, and to-date, they have repaid only 242,000 somoni,” Ismoilov said.
According to him, the Kulob power grid inspectors have revealed 1,600 cases of violation of electricity consumption rules over the same six-month period. The main violations are illegal connection to power transmission lines and lack of electricity meters. Offenders have been fined a total of more than 80,000 somoni.
