DUSHANBE, July 29, 2013, Asia-Plus — The delivery of Turkmen electricity to Tajikistan via Afghanistan in winter period is quite possible, the Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s state electricity supplier) deputy head, Abdullo Qurbonov, told Asia-Plus in an interview on July 29.
According to him, construction of the power electricity line from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan is being carried out and it could be connected to the 220 kV Sangtuda-Puli Khumri power transmission line.
We will recall that Turkmen electricity shipments to Tajikistan were cut off in late 2010 after Uzbekistan officially left the Soviet-era regional power grid that united it with its three Central Asian neighbors.
