Tajikistan tops CIS states in terms of consumer prices indices: CIS committee for statistics

DUSHANBE, August 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan tops CIS states in terms of consumer price indices for the first six months of this year. 

In January-June 2008, the highest consumer price index has been reported in Tajikistan (128.8%) and the lowest consumer price index has been reported in Armenia (109%), according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics. 

Over the same six-month period, in Kyrgyzstan, the consumer price index amounted to 125.6 percent, in Kazakhstan – 119.1 percent, in Azerbaijan — 120.2%, in Moldova – 115.5%, in Belarus – 114.2%, in Russia – 113.9 percent, and in Georgia — 111.4%. 

 Over the report period, an average consumer price index within the Commonwealth of Independent States has been 117%.
