DUSHANBE, June 7, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri, who is also member of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, considers that authorities’ pressure on his party has gown lately.
“Of course, it is unpleasant to talk about that on the threshold of the Day of National Unity and Accord but reality is that the authorities’ pressure on the party is growing,” IRP leader told Asia-Plus in an interview on June 7.
According to him, the pressure on the IRP is assuming new forms “and sometimes absurd and obscure.” “For example, we yesterday received a letter from the anticorruption agency, which notes that we are given ten days to implement the government decision of 1996 on the compulsory insurance of persons working with the hazardous production facilities,” said Kabiri. “They warn that if we do not implement this decision, other measures will be introduced against us. The question arises, since when political parties are considered to be hazardous to health? Are all parties hazardous or only our party?”
IRP leader found it difficult to say why it happens. “We would like to know ourselves, why? I think this question should be asked from those who create these problems,” Kabiri said.
