KULOB, July 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Health (MoH) has provided 8,000 ampoules of pneumonia vaccine for medical facilities in Khatlon’s Kulob region.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Kulob head sanitary physician, Said Davlatov, said that vaccination will be carried out among children above 2 years old predisposed to pneumonia and elderly people above 65 years old, especially those who do not relatives to support them and live in elderly centers, to stimulate the normal immune system.  

“The vaccination campaign will also target prediabetics and persons suffering from chronic bronchitis and cardiac insufficiency as well as nicotine- and alcohol-dependent persons,” the head sanitary physician said, noting that the majority of targeted persons live in Vose, Hamadoni and Farkhor districts.
