DUSHANBE, August 1, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received visiting China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi yesterday afternoon.

According to the Tajik president’s official websites, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China.

A special attention was reportedly paid to the preparation of the upcoming state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Tajikistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit that are scheduled for early September this year.

Speaking at the meeting, President Rahmon reportedly noted that confidential relations and sincere friendship had been established between political leaderships of the two countries.  “We value these relations,” Rahmon said.

Tajik leader noted that bilateral decisions on construction of gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China via Tajik territory, financing and construction of the Vahdat-Yovon railway, and adoption of the Tajikistan-China cooperation program designed for 2015-2020 were striking examples of strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.

The sides reportedly discussed cooperation between the two countries in sectors like energy, industry, agriculture, culture, and science.

Rahmon and Wang also discussed cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Tajikistan and China in providing security and stability.
